How often do we feel outraged when we see trash dumped in our city's natural spaces? If we're able to enjoy a mate by the lake or play with our children in the squares, why aren't we able to take away or properly dispose of the waste we generate?

Mobilized by these questions, a group of local ecosystem stakeholders gathered to create a dynamic, family-friendly, and powerful event: T+ACTIVA. This event was created to encourage community waste collection, as an excuse to raise awareness and also to highlight what happens to waste once it is properly disposed of.

It's still common in our city to encounter people who haven't yet made the habit of separating their waste and taking it to recycling centers and/or other institutions that receive it for recovery and recycling. It's worth remembering that what for many is waste, for others is an input for their business, or, as is the case with sheltered workshops, which generate income from materials received from recycling centers.

This event seeks to create a space for exchange, education, and awareness, in order to change habits such as throwing away cigarette butts, paper, or wrappers. That's why we chose the slogan "Your Action Counts." It will begin on Sunday, November 24th at 2:00 PM at Mirador Tandil (Dr. Saavedra Lamas 500) and will feature various activities. A talk will be given by local entrepreneurs who will explain how they transform waste into products with a positive impact, followed by a workshop on how to integrate more sustainable practices into the home. Waste collection will begin at 3:30 PM.

To this end, the dam grounds were divided into different sectors , and participants will participate in teams. The groups that collect the most waste will win substantial prizes. There will also be simultaneous activities for those who want to participate in the event but are unable to participate in the collection. At 3:30 p.m., a fun workshop for children will begin, where they can play and learn about sustainability. This will be followed by a workshop inviting participants to participate in the Huella Joven project, which recognizes young people with a significant environmental impact in Tandil and the region.

The awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. and close with a live performance by the band of La Plata artist Gabriel Luch. This event is organized by Mirador Tandil, Grupo Rocas, Marcas que Marcan, 3C Tandil, and the participation of the Municipality of Tandil. Among the companies and organizations that have already signed up to make this event possible are Ceres Tolvas, Redimec, Banco Credicoop, Chacra y Delpech, and Okapi viajes. The deadline to join as sponsors is Friday, November 15.

The event takes place during the international "People and Planet First Week." During this week, various leading organizations in empowering Social and Impact Enterprises around the world will be holding events, workshops, and talks to raise awareness about alternative ways of doing business and guide collective action. The goal is for Tandil to be present at this international dialogue, which demonstrates that it is possible to do things differently, and to highlight the examples of Positive Impact in our city.

To participate in the event, it's important to register, as this will allow teams to be selected and enter the awards. To register, click on the link at tandilactiva.com or scan the QR code.
