The existence of companies seeking to generate a positive impact on society and the environment is nothing new. Their emergence, growth, and expansion around the world are thanks to impact ecosystems that create fertile ground for these organizations to thrive.
Latin America is a diverse and vast region, with multiple complexities, but with shared contexts and structural problems. High levels of informality, governments that constantly change the rules of the game, high percentages of people from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and lack of access to basic goods and services, among others.
Some countries, such as Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico, are leaders in taking measures that involve intersectoral collaboration between various stakeholders to help mitigate and resolve the problems they face, empowering Social and Impact Enterprises. To a greater or lesser extent, all countries on the continent are making progress in promoting these types of business alternatives.

In Peru, for example, KUNAN is a Peruvian platform that strengthens the country's social and environmental entrepreneurship ecosystem. They promote a network of more than 400 social and environmental ventures nationwide, and each year they collaborate with local businesses and governments to launch the Kunan Awards.
In Chile, government organizations like CORFO promote social and impact enterprises by offering financial, technical, and strategic support. It promotes social innovation through subsidies, training, and collaborative networks, with the goal of ensuring impact enterprises can access the resources and knowledge necessary to develop sustainable solutions to the challenges facing the country and the region.
Collaboration between governments, traditional and impact-driven businesses, NGOs, universities, and other stakeholders enables the emergence and growth of impact ecosystems. These ecosystems seek to transcend organizational objectives to build a shared vision and facilitate the conditions for impact-driven businesses to emerge and develop.
With the purpose of strengthening the region's Impact Ecosystem, the Latam Impact Network emerged, which promotes the development of alliances between organizations that support the entrepreneurial ecosystem, advocacy by identifying problems and needs to influence policy agendas, and training through information, resources, solutions, and programs. More than 250 organizations are part of it, 31 of which are Argentine.
In November, the Red Impacto Latam, together with EKHOS, is preparing to host an Impact Ecosystem meeting. The goal is to generate a current snapshot of the ecosystem, including current perceptions, needs, and opportunities. This will provide a status report on the Impact Ecosystem, as perceived by its members. This type of meeting has already been held in Argentina on more than five occasions and will continue throughout the region.
The objective, beyond generating a collaborative vision, is to generate information and a situational overview that will allow the region's current situation to be presented at the first edition of the GIBEF (Global Businesses and Ecosystem Forum). This meeting space, organized by EKHOS, will connect stakeholders from the impact ecosystem in India, Latin America, and the United Kingdom. The goal is to catalyze the creation of impactful markets and business opportunities, foster the exchange of social and environmental innovations, promote knowledge generation, and mobilize financing across regions.
The event will take place in New Delhi, India, from February 18 to 21, 2025. To participate, please visit https://gibef.com/ . Download the program at https://ekhos.org/india
