From June 10th to 15th, a trade mission of Latin American companies took place in the United Kingdom, which included participation in London Tech Week, one of the world's largest technology industry fairs. Among the Argentine companies that formed part of the delegation and participated in the activities were two companies with a presence in Tandil: Marcas que Marcan and Bee Real.
The United Kingdom offers a wide range of opportunities and programs to boost Latin American businesses, especially in the technology sector. The Department of Business and Commerce of the British Embassies in various Latin American countries organized a trade mission to support companies seeking to establish themselves in the United Kingdom, understand the various business opportunities available in the region, and connect with potential strategic allies.
The delegates are leading technology-based companies leading ventures specializing in software, fintech services, biotechnology, sustainability, and logistics solutions, among other sectors. In addition to Argentina, representatives from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay were also present.

The Trade Mission began with talks and panels on how to set up a business in the United Kingdom, including discussions with legal and accounting experts and entrepreneurs who shared their experiences developing their businesses in the country, their challenges, and their successes. The Argentine Ambassador to the United Kingdom welcomed the delegation at her residence, where a networking session was held so the guests could get to know each other.
"It's worth highlighting the importance of Argentina's presence at this edition of London Tech Week, which reflects the country's growing entrepreneurial and technological potential. This fair represents an important space for Argentine companies, distinguished by their talent and creativity, to develop channels to internationalize their businesses and explore the United Kingdom as part of their expansion strategy," said Mariana Plaza, Argentine Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
At the technology fair, a wide variety of specialists could be found discussing how Artificial Intelligence is being applied in different fields. There was also a talk led by Deepak Chopra on what the future of technology represents for the human condition; a presentation by Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, on the impact of new technologies on information and how Artificial Intelligence can help combat misinformation; and a talk by Steve Blank, known as the father of modern entrepreneurship, on how to promote Social Entrepreneurship.
"We are extremely pleased with the number and quality of entrepreneurs who agreed to participate in London Tech Week this year. The entire network of British embassies is working hard to showcase the benefits available to startups and scale-ups looking to internationalize their businesses using the United Kingdom as a platform. But word of mouth is also a major influence among the entrepreneurial community, which already sees this annual event as an opportunity not to be missed by all technology companies with ambitions to expand beyond their borders," said Estefanía Rubiniak, Investment Development Coordinator at the British Embassy in Buenos Aires.
The UK's tech industry is worth over $1 trillion, a figure only surpassed by the United States and China. No other country in Europe has more unicorns, so it's only natural that so many tech entrepreneurs and startup creators are seeking investment or a way to expand their businesses internationally by setting up offices on British soil.
The two companies with a presence in Tandil that participated in the various activities were Bee Real and Marcas que Marcan (MQM).

London Tech Week not only made it clear that technology is advancing faster than we can adapt, but that solutions and challenges exist in every sector. Will technological solutions allow us to accelerate the transition to more sustainable production and consumption models? What solutions allow us to mitigate climate change on a large scale? How can we use technology to close digital divides and generate greater inclusion? These are some of the questions we can ask ourselves so that the great advances being made globally do not build gaps but bridges.
